Gonna do the Sunday recap a little bit differently this week because we had a HUGE win on Sunday morning that really pumped me up!
Another great day in the books at OneLife! Here's the quick 4-1-1.
- Part 2 of Break Out Series: Temptation and sin are not the same!
- The podcast is already on iTunes. The video will be available Monday.
- Jesus was tempted but never sinned (Matthew 4:1-10)
- He was tempted by what he didn't have, in his area of weakness, and by what might appear to be "good" for him. The same happens to us!
- Satan twisted Scripture to tempt Jesus. Satan is still doing the same thing to so many Christians who take verses out of context to justify their sin.
- We can deal with temptation just like Jesus did: quote Scripture and be led by the Spirit in all that we do.
- Fall Break at UT and Knox County stinks. We really missed our UT students and quite a few families. Looking forward to having them back next week!
- It seemed that those who weren't gone on Fall Break were sick. Lots of volunteers out sick today.
- We didn't skip a beat, though. New volunteers showed up yet again today. Set-up was still done in an hour and tear-down in about 40 minutes. Unbelievable!
- Even with lots of regulars out we still had a ton of first time guests. Four families filled out communication cards.
- Announced today the "Get to Know OneLife Lunch" on November 1. Expected about 30 people total to sign up by next week. Already have over 50!
- Also announced a new church we are going to help in the government housing community of Bakertown Apartments. We will be collecting candy next Sunday for their "Reverse Trick-or-Treat."
- Sheena, our weekly female singer/worship leader, was out sick today. So we had a last minute fill in - Kieruka (ka-roo-ka) Martin. That girl ROCKED the house, especially on "You'll Come." I can't tell you how awesome the OneLife Band is at leading worship each week.
- We are already half-way through the Break Out series and I'm pumped about next week's topic. Be there and bring a friend!

Part two of Meet the Staff brings up our Creative Director Tyler Goode. As one of the most over-worked and under-appreciated positions in a church like ours, I am thankful for a team player that truly has a heart for the church reaching people that would otherwise go unreached.
How We Met: Tyler and I met in college. It didn’t take long for us to begin working together on concerts held on campus, weekly worship nights with him playing drums and me leading worship, and eventually church services on Sunday where he quickly became the infamous sound man.
It felt like there was a ton of momentum heading into this week and the start of our new series. But at 10:55 I started thinking "This is the week it happens. The week nobody shows up." Then all of the sudden everybody showed up at the last minute. And it was another incredible, God-honoring day at OneLife!
My goal is to do a better job keeping this blog and Twitter updated. But man, the days and weeks FLY by. Don't know where it goes! I need an Associate Pastor of Twitter and Blogs to do it for me ![]()
To help keep me paced over the next couple of weeks, I'm going to highlight each of our staff members. I couldn't do it without them! First up, my life-saver and keeper of the money, Haley Resseguie.
