Drinking from a Fire Hydrant
Launching New Churches, Launching Process, Strategy, Leadership
I'll never forget the first time I saw a fire hydrant that had its cap knocked off. Water was shooting everywhere and flooded the street in a matter of no time. So now imagine drinking from that.
That's what I feel like I've been doing the past two days.
...
Tyler (creative/media), Kydon (intern/college ministry), and I have been at a church planters basic training that wraps up tomorrow. I haven't heard much that has been what I would consider new information that we didn't already know, but everything you can possibly imagine about starting a new church has been covered in two long, grueling days. And they have done a great job challenging us all along the way.
It has been a huge reminder that this is a big deal. People's lives, earthly and eternal, literally hang in the balance. It has also been a huge reminder about how much there is to get done. Fund raising, mission statements, leadership development, launch team building, vision casting, systems and strategy planning are all just starting points for much more to come.
So like a fire hydrant shooting out water, this training has been flooding us with all kinds of information. All we can do is drink in as much as we can and get back home where we can start making it all happen.
