Cleaning Out the Junk
FaithOk, I’ve had enough. Tomorrow morning I’m cleaning out the garage. When Harrison and I got married, we pretty much got all new things and threw both her stuff and my stuff away. But there was just enough stuff that we didn’t get rid of that it ended up lining the walls of the garage. After sitting there and cluttering it up for the past six months, I’m finally taking advantage of a pretty day off to clean it out. Even Harrison said last night “I’m tired of that junk. Let’s just throw it all away.”
That got me thinking…why don’t we do that with life? When we decide to follow Jesus, we become part of his bride – the Church. But the problem is, so many of us don’t throw away all of the junk. We decide to hold on to just enough of our old selves instead of letting him bring us everything brand new. Then we end up with a mess that we’re reminded of everyday until we get fed up and finally throw it all away.
What are you holding on to from the past that is causing junk in your life? What do you need to finally get rid of so Jesus has room to give you everything brand new and better that he wants you to have?
