Everything Changes
Launching New Churches, StrategyI heard something today that really stuck with me. Every time in Scripture that Jesus came in contact with someone, everything for that person changed. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but always different.
The Pharisees changed when they were suddenly threatened by the freedom from legalism that Jesus preached. The woman at the well had one conversation with Jesus and ended up transforming an entire town. Demons came in contact with Jesus, hopped into some pigs, and ran into the sea. Even a soldier that helped murder Jesus stood at the bottom of the cross when all was said and done, astounded at the Son of God he just witnessed.
So why is it that churches all across our city are filled with people who supposedly come in contact with Jesus each Sunday but don't leave changed? Should we really be in the presence of Almighty God and leave unaffected? I don't think so. The scary thing is, that would mean only one thing.
Jesus wasn't there.
It is impossible to be in his presence and not be affected. With that in mind, OneLife Church will be committed to creating an environment where people from all backgrounds can come in contact with Jesus. There is too much weighing in the balance for us not to take our time in worship seriously and do it in a way that will leave each of us dramatically affected.
When Jesus is there, that's when we'll see lives changed. That's when we'll see every one life making a difference. That’s what we’re all about.
