Launch Team Thoughts
Launching New Churches, Launching Process, Leadership, Launch TeamThis past Sunday was our first Launch Team meeting and this Sunday morning will be the first time we get to meet at the high school. We are very excited about that!
The challenge has been trying to determine what exactly we should be talking about. For nearly two years I’ve been thinking, planning, praying, and preparing for launching this new church. So now I have to whittle down those two years into just a couple of months for these people who have bought in to the vision and are ready to roll up their sleeves to make it happen.
...
Last week we talked about the vision from a 30,000 feet view. The big idea was that God wants us to let him do something so big that only he can get the credit for it. It’s not about us. To make that happen, we talked about dressing for the wedding, not the gas station. This is an analogy that I heard recently that made this concept easier to communicate. Basically, this means we are not going to plan for where we are, but we are going to plan for where we are headed. The team was challenged to step-up to make this happen financially, by volunteering, and by spreading the word.
This Sunday we get very specific. We are going to talk about what a Sunday morning at OneLife Church is going to look like, the “win” for a Sunday, and the biblical vision for the results church should produce. We’re going to look at what happened in the New Testament when Jesus was preaching life to people. I’ll give ya a hint: people were so drawn to Him that they would rip the roof off of buildings to get in – literally! Can’t wait to talk about that in the context of OneLife Church.
Will you pray for us? We still need about $8k and would love to add a few more families to the Launch Team. I know God will provide.
