A Real Life Reminder
Launching New ChurchesToday some of our OneLifers got together and passed out door hangers in some neighborhoods. These doorhangers have a really cool design and two coupons from a restaurant owner who wanted to help us out. So not only do they let people know about OneLife Church but they provide free food, too! A great combination, I think ![]()
But apparently not everyone agrees.
...
We were in one of the neighborhoods when a OneLifer put a door hanger on one of the doors. At the same time, the homeowner happened to be coming out the door. He immediately showed that he was upset about the door hanger. After a little cussing and a threat to call the police, we thought that was the end of it. Until the guy drove to the other end of the neighborhood, parked behind another one of the OneLife cars and watched to see if the folks inside got out to do more door hangers.
Now nothing we were doing was illegal (trust me, I did my homework on that!) since our guy immediately left his property when asked. And everyone else in that neighborhood and all the others were exceptionally friendly. Out of several thousand doors, this was the first negative experience we've had. It would have been easy to get discouraged or even mad (or sneak over to his house at night and wrap his house with doorhangers like a Christmas present). But none of that would do any good. Showing Christ's love in that situation is what we need to do.
So I was extremely proud when one of our other OneLifers made the comment "That's just another example of someone who apparently has some major issues with the Church." Bullseye. That's why we do this. And from time to time it won't be easy. It might even be messy. But it's worth it.
This real life reminder came at just the right time as we gear up for Preview Service #2. We hope many people who have given up on church will be there to give God and His Bride another chance.
