Launch Sunday Recap
Launching New ChurchesThe journey begins! OneLife Church was born today with an awesome launch service. After two years of building up to this point, it's kind of hard to believe that the first service is already in the books. But what's even more amazing is that I couldn’t have asked for it to go any better. The crazy thing is we get to do this all again in seven more days! Can’t wait.
...
- This was the first time we did set up without a mission team here to help. And it was still done in an hour!
- Check out pictures of setup on twitter: www.twitter.com/rodneyarnold.
- Speaking of set up, we have the best volunteers imaginable. They came ready to rock ‘n roll and were fun to be around. It was also cool to see a couple of new faces there helping set up.
- I felt like I had been run over by a dump truck in the middle of the night. I know it’s not swine flu but it’s something. Thanks for all the prayers. I made it through!
- The run through service was rough for me. I felt awful, kept getting distracted, and felt like the sermon would end up being an absolute flop.
- But the “real” sermon went much better. Thankfully for me I was preaching about Jesus. Can’t mess that one up! It preaches itself.
- How do I know it went ok? Because another person prayed to receive Christ! That’s all the proof I need. Thank you Lord!
- Attendance was great considering we ended up doing more of a “soft” launch (no mass mailings, etc.). There were 159: 130 in the auditorium, 29 in the kidz areas. A great balance between new faces and people coming back from the preview services.
- Energy in the auditorium was great! Tyler put together an incredible video to open the service and the band continues to amaze me. Sheena WORE OUT “Lead Me to the Cross.” Dillan is awesome at keeping people engaged. You need to come check out OneLife just for the band! They are the real deal.
- Thanks to Blount Community Church for providing greeters and cleaning the parking lot up before people started arriving.
- Tons of great comments on the connection cards and already in email. God is in complete control of this thing and is taking us on an awesome ride! Can’t wait to see where we end up next week.
- Today we talked about the power we need for our one life to make a difference. That power is Jesus!
- We also learned that the word “Devil” (Diabolos in Greek) literally means a piece of crap. My step-dad thought that one was funny.
- Speaking of, my dad, mom, step-dad, aunt, uncle, cousin, and brother all surprised me by coming today. Harrison’s parents and grandparents also came. We have great families!
- Next week we are looking at David and how his life made a difference. But it’s not your typical David and Goliath message! Come check it out to see…next Sunday, 11 a.m. @ Powell High School.
